The lists of brand names made me realize I’m surrounded by so many brands in my daily life. Before I started the list, I thought it gonna be difficult to fill out all the blanks, however, it was much easier than I thought.

Japanese Copyright Holders Reject Google Digital Book Project

In September 2009, Japanese copyright-holder groups (JVCA) rejected the reconciliation with Google Inc. program of scanning books and relieace in internet. JVCA regard that the reconcilation made by America doesn’t contain any japanse author’s opinions, therefore the organization decided to nagotiate by themselves.

Week 8

I watched ‘abc7’ bay area news.
News was 10 min.
Advertisement was 10min and 30 seconds.
Weather report was 2 min.
Sports news was 4min and 30 seconds
“Happy talk” was 2min 30 seconds

Lead story was about missing baby, Shown Williams. In this morning, a baby body was found in a lake in Berkeley. So police is inspecting whether the body is Williams.
I think because this news is only about bay area, and the children’s news always can catch audience attention. The reporter voice sounded really serious and she seemed to worry about the baby.

MOVIE

UP (2009) by Disney
I watched this in a theater.
This was the first 3-D movie for me. I love both the effect and story. Before I watched it, I thought it is just a Disney animation for kids. However, I was really moved by the story. It is not just an ordinal animation.

Week3: Books

Harry Potter
I read this book when I was 5th grade. That was the first time I read a book without pictures. The book strongly attracted many generations and countries. “Harry potter” was one of the most popular books in my country. I love the story and the fantasy world.

The secret
At first I read this book because of my Humanity class’ assignment. This book has so many advices to let myself become more positive of my life. The book also let the reader know how to achieve to success. The best phrase I like is “You are born to make dream reality.”

http://www.amazon.com/Secret-Rhonda-Byrne/dp/1582701709/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1255244742&sr=1-1

The Great Blue Yonder
This book is about a boy named Harry who already dead and became a ghost to try to say good bye and thank you to his Family and friends. I like this book because even though it is a serious and sad story, it still has a lot of humor. This book also let me think about the true meaning of living.

Media Impact

I want to propose a media research about “How video games impact children’s behavior and life style?”
I would like to choose my target to elementary school students. I will interview them about how long they play game every week, what kinds of Video games are they prefer, and have they act like the games’ character or situation in real life.
I would use survey methods to do this project. I think to interview the real opinion from target and collect data is the best way to get reliable research result.
My hypothesis is Video games have bad influence for children’s behavior and life style: less sleep, can’t concentrate in school activity, or even harm their friends by acting game characters.

When I look back my life, I can find my life was always surrounded by mass media.
I like to read magazines. Because I’m come from Japan, the English-Written books are really hard to read for me. However, the magazines have a lot of photos and the articles are easy to understand, so it is really help me to practice English.
On the other hand, English News Paper is too difficult for me to understand. Most of News papers are using specific words, and I don’t like to read even Japanese one. If I want to know news of the day, I just turn on TV, and it is easier to get the world wide information. I also don’t really use Records and Radio. Nowadays, the internet became more and more useful, so I don’t need to use Records, CD, or Radio to listen music.
I love watching movies, especially love stories. Movies can let me enjoy the ideal world other than real life. Whenever I feel depress, the movies can make me happy and encourage me.
After all the best media for me is Internet. Before I came to United States, I didn’t realize how Internet can impact my life. Now, I’m using internet every day. Internet can let me download music and movies which from Japan. It can let me watch Japanese TV, and even speak with my family for free. Internet is a necessary tool for International student. I can’t believe the life without internet anymore.

I think Japanese media has much more impact for audience than America. When some big problems come out, the media start to broadcast these again and again. It can truly influence the audience to really care about the problem even though it is not so serious actually. For example, when I went back to Japan this summer, the TV shows repeat that how flu is dangers and serious again and again. Because of the media, many people start to wear mask, and vaccination almost run out.
Mass Media can influence the audience both in positive and negative ways. To give information for audience is a good thing, but Media should know sometimes they can let all the audiences get into panic.
